Introducing The Tumalo Knit Jumpsuit Pattern!

cotton spandex jersey from Lyrical Fabrics (color no longer available)

Introducing the Tumalo Knit Jumpsuit PDF pattern! You all must know by now that I pretty much live in secret pajamas. Well, say hello to my new go-to casual look.

I wanted to design a comfy knit jumpsuit that didn't require a lycra knit fabric (we've all heard how lycra is bad for the environment). The Tumalo Jumpsuit was fit with mechanical stretch knits, however, you can use lycra knits as well. In fact, the photo above is a cotton lycra fabric. It just fits a little tighter in the bust and the neckline is a little higher due to the stretch recovery, whereas, all of the other samples pictured do not have lycra in them and fit just slightly looser in the bust.

There are two neckline versions and two hem lengths. Both versions feature a sleeveless tank-style top with narrow trims at the neck and armholes, a high - almost empire waist, dreamy deep stitched down pockets, a low scoop neck, and straight wide pant legs.

Make a pair of shorts or a full-length pair of pants. Choose between a 1” turned-up hem or a raw edge rolled hem. By the way, whenever I encounter a knit fabric that rolls, I like to encourage the rolling and incorporate it into the hems and finishes so I was excited to do that with this pattern.

Version A has enough coverage to be worn on its own as a stand-alone piece, while version B has a very low cut neckline and armholes and is designed to be worn with a top underneath. It looks fun with a tiny pop of color underneath or layer up for the colder weather.

The photos below show the different fabrics - light-weight hemp/cotton jersey, cotton spandex jersey, and sweatshirt fleece (your fabric should have around 25% horizontal and 25% vertical stretch).

The photos below show the different hemming options. The light-weight cotton slub fabric was purchased from Iseefabric and the hems roll really nicely with it.
